Red Balloon Cycling – Terms and Conditions

1. Booking and Payment

A deposit of 25% is required to secure your place on a trip.

Full payment must be made no later than 14 days before the trip start date.

Bookings made less than 14 days before departure must be paid in full at the time of booking.

2. Cancellations and Refunds

By the customer:

Cancellations more than 14 days before departure: refund minus the deposit.

No refund is available for cancellations made less than 14 days before departure.

By Red Balloon Cycling:

Red Balloon Cycling reserves the right to cancel a trip due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., adverse weather, guide illness, or insufficient bookings).

In such cases, you will be offered a full refund or an alternative trip date.

Red Balloon Cycling may seek alternative transport or accommodation to ensure participant safety and overall success of a trip. Additional costs incurred will be borne by the participant. Ie if one persons bike fails and they need to get a train back to Glasgow.

3. Participant Responsibilities

You must ensure you are physically fit and have the appropriate experience for the trip. Red Balloon Cycling strongly advises discussing any concerns before booking.

You are responsible for informing Red Balloon Cycling of any medical conditions, allergies, or dietary requirements in advance.

You agree to follow the instructions of the Red Balloon Cycling at all times for your safety and the safety of others.

Due to the importance of preparation in bikepacking, Red Balloon Cycling strongly advises all participants to attend the pre-ride briefing and kit check held the evening before the trip commences.

4. Equipment and Rentals

Camping equipment and bikepacking luggage are available for hire. All hired items must be returned in good condition. Any damage to hire equipment beyond reasonable wear and tear may result in a charge.

You must carry or wear all items listed on the mandatory clothing and kit list during the trip. Red Balloon Cycling reserves the right to prevent participation if a participant does not have the appropriate gear.

You are responsible for ensuring your bike and kit are properly maintained and adequately insured. Red Balloon Cycling will endeavour to offer advice and assistance before a trip commences, however it cannot be held responsible for the performance or safety of any personal bikes or equipment.

Red Balloon Cycling will take reasonable care when transporting equipment but accepts no liability for damage to equipment during transit or while riding on the trip.

5. Insurance and Liability

Red Balloon Cycling strongly recommends that all participants hold personal travel insurance covering cycling, personal injury, medical costs, and trip cancellation.

Red Balloon Cycling is not liable for loss, damage, or theft of personal belongings.

Participation is at your own risk. While Red Balloon Cycling takes every reasonable precaution to ensure safety, outdoor activities inherently involve some risk, including the dangers inherent  in cycling either on the road or off the road

By making a booking with Red Balloon Cycling, you accept:

The risks and hazards associated with such a trip, including but not limited to:

The inherent dangers of cycling on- or off-road;

The risks associated with the outdoor environment;

The potential for delays, alterations to the itinerary, loss or damage to property, inconvenience, and physical discomfort.

6. Age and Group Requirements

Participants must be aged 18 or over unless accompanied by a responsible adult and with prior agreement from Red Balloon Cycling.

Minimum group size: 1. Maximum group size: 4.

7. Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. Any disputes arising under these terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of Scottish courts.
